Ever since the Dubai Garden Glow had reopened for 2016, my elder son, A wanted to go visit it. Everytime we passed Zabeel park and the display of the Garden Glow on Sheikh Zayed Road, I promised him that I would take him there in the winter break.
It took a lot of determination on my part to make a sudden plan on a tuesday afternoon to take both the boys to Dubai Garden Glow by myself!! This was big, for someone who is hesitant to take them both to the supermarket alone.
I went and got myself a selfie stick just before we left, as I wanted to be able to get atleast a few pictures of myself while there. I am so glad I did! The ticket costs 60DH for everyone 3 years and up, and covers Dubai Garden Glow and Dinosaur Park. We parked at Gate 5 but the closest to the attractions are Gate 6 and 7. We had to cross a bridge from Gate 5 to reach the main area where the Dinosaur park attractions were.
The walkway towards the main attractions had a lot of food and drink kiosks, including Tim Hortons and Cold Stone Creamery and also a kids play area, along with a lot of dinosaur photo opportunities. Most of the dinosaur statues had moving necks and were making roaring sounds. We did not enter the main Dinosaur park area, as the kids were too eager to go to the Garden Glow section first.
We walked along the path towards the Garden Glow, which had a lot of attaractions like the Underwater world, Butterfly garden, animal kingdom, a Burj Khalifa replica, a Christmas tree, along with displays on pearls, footballs, flowers, windmills, etc along the way. What I loved the most were the beautiful, colorful tunnels they have created in different shapes. An interactive play zone, including 9D virtual simulation and iDrive Robot rides was also popular with most kids there.
We were there for almost 3 hours and still felt that we weren’t able to see all their displays. The children were so exhausted by the end of it that we had to skip the main Dinosaur park all together.
We had a great time with the three of us on an exploratory trip, just sad that we couldn’t get better pictures of us there. Overall, it is a definite one-time visit for every Dubai resident and visitor. Another wonder that Dubai has to offer!
