It’s almost Valentine’s Day and I hadn’t bought anything for the hubby yet! I really wanted to do something cute and DIY for him, but something useful at the same time.
In a blog post I did on www.giftbag.ae for 14 DIY Valentine Gift Ideas, I had seen a few mugs designed with Sharpies. Inspired by a fellow mom blogger on Instagram, I used washi tape to create the stencilled effect.
The whole process took me less than 20 minutes. Thankfully, the kids didn’t bother me much while I was doing this. I am quite pleased with the end result. I plan to surprise the hubby with a nice cup of hot cocoa on Valentine’s eve. Hope he likes the pair of Valentine mugs.
Materials needed:
A set of 2 plain white mugs
Washi tape
Scissors
Red permanent waterproof marker
Procedure:
1. Judging the space available, stick washi tape to spell out your and your loved one’s initials, with a ❤ in between, on one mug. Repeat the process for the second mug.
2. Using a red permanent marker, color over each letter in a zigzag pattern. Make sure you leave some white space between the different letters and the ❤. Be careful not to go over the inner space of the heart. Do the same for the second mug.
3. Once, the markers are dry, gently peel off all the washi tape. You will be left behind with the blank spaces, as shown.
4. Once dry, write “I Love You” or any other message on the inside rims of the mugs.
Your quick and thoughtful, DIY Valentine gift will surely please your love.
Happy Valentine’s Day!! 💞💞
