On Friday, 26th April 2019, my husband, sons and I headed to the Museum of Illusions with varied expectations. I had seen so much of it on Instagram that I knew I wanted to walk out with some cool pictures of all of us. My husband just wanted to explore a new place with us, thankfully a place that did not involve any shopping, eating or running up and down play areas. The kids – well, they just wanted to have loads of fun!
I’m a full-time, stay-at-home mom who manages a business, a home and a blog on a part-time basis. Come school vacations, and the pressure increases as the kids wake up with me in the morning and sleep late at night with me too. This means that there are days when I am with the kids 24×7.
Over the last 5 years of mommyhood, I’ve seen various friends go on holidays without their kids – some on a girls’ trip and others on a mini-moon with their husbands. My husband and I always thought that we would not enjoy a holiday without the kids and we would not want to deprive them of the pleasure and learning that comes with travelling and being in a new place.
I love pictures. Not so much taking them or being in them, but surely love printing them and putting them in collage frames all over my bedroom. I do get lazy to update the photographs in the frames, but I make sure memories of all major events and milestones have their space on the walls all over the house.
It had been almost 4 years since I last went on a holiday. The main reason we hesitated over the last year or so, was that my younger son was less than 2 years old, and keeping him entertained while away from home would be a task. My elder son really wanted to experience a flight and the taking-off and landing.
I had heard of a lot of people travelling to Georgia lately and knew it appealed to a lot of friends as it was free entry for Indians living in the UAE.
So, in March 2017, we decided to plan a short trip for the spring break, and Georgia was on of the places that stood out due to lack of time for Visa application procedures. We did all our airline and hotel bookings less than a week before departure! That left me with very less time to pack for the kids and us, keeping in mind that it was quite cold in Georgia. My sister-in- law was going along with us too, and my elder son was really excited for the whole trip.
