May is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month and reading stories of so many fellow mom bloggers on Instagram, took me back to my initial days of motherhood and how I hated everything about being a mother, except my darling baby of course!

Dear A
Today, on your 5th birthday, I’m not going to tell you how much I love you…you already know that. I’m not going to tell you about the man I wish for you to become, there is time for that.
I once read somewhere:
“Do not forget to wish your mom on your birthday, its one of the most special days of her life”
My elder son, A, loves being read to and his favorite book is a compilation of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse stories. If it were up to him, I would only read stories from that book to him, day and night.
One of the stories in the book is “Up, Up and Away”, where Mickey Mouse and his friends go on a hot air balloon adventure. The story teaches children about shapes and shadows – how they are created and how they change during different times of the day.
With the 45th National Day of the UAE coming up on the 2nd of December 2016, there is a patriotic vibe everywhere.
It’s great to see that all expat communities of Dubai, especially families with young children go all out to celebrate National Day. Schools play such an important role in developing this spirit by teaching them about the culture and heritage of the UAE for weeks leading up to 2nd December.
My elder son, A, was only 2.5 years old when I was blessed with my younger bundle of joy. Right from the beginning of my 1st pregnancy till his 2.5 years, everything was out of BabyCentre, What to Expect, other internet sources and my very own parenting guide -my elder sister (whose twins were 6 years old at that time). I spent hours reading these books, articles and hanging around the Baby Centre birth board to connect with other moms-to-be and their experiences. From feeding and weaning to skin care to toys and equipment, everything was researched and then applied.
Ever since I remember, I’ve always loved looking up at the sky in the evenings and gazing at all the different stars and constellations.
Unfortunately, how much ever I love the Dubai life and especially the well-lit and bright nights in the city, it does have the drawback of not many stars being visible.
